Grizzlies Want Iverson?

Doesn’t quite make sense, but the Grizzlies and Allen Iverson are supposedly in contract negotiations. Iverson, who is 34 years old, has stated time and time again that wants to start in this league and would rather retire than come off of the bench. One would think that at this point in his career that Iverson would be going after a championship opposed to trying to continue to start games on a non-contending team. Not only does that deal not make sense for the Grizzlies, it doesn’t make sense for Iverson either. Signing to play with a basement-dweller in the Western Conference doesn’t seem to be the brightest move someone could make, but I guess when you are that big of an egomaniac then stuff like that is bound to happen.

Iverson isn’t the only offensive blackhole that the Grizzlies were interested in. They recently acquired Zach Randolph from the Clippers in exchange for Quentin Richardson. The deal kind of makes sense, you know, if you don’t have plans on making a splash in free agency next season seeing as Randolph is going to be making over $17 Mill. It’s hard to understand why they would mix so many bad personalities with their young core, but I guess they want to try and start winning games now.
