| Memphis Grizzlies extend qualifying offer to Hamed Haddadi | |
Posted by The Memphis Grizzlies extended a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Hamed Haddadi, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today. Haddadi, a 7-2, 265-pound center, completed his third NBA season with averages of 2.4 points and 2.2 rebounds on a career-high .517 shooting in 5.4 minutes in 31 games. The 26-year-old appeared in nine postseason games, posting 1.2 points, 0.9 rebounds and 0.56 blocks in 3.4 minutes. The first Iranian-born player in NBA history, Haddadi owns career averages of 2.2 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.45 blocks on .457 shooting in 86 games, all with the Grizzlies. Memphis signed Haddadi as a free agent on Aug. 28, 2008. MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have extended a qualifying offer to restricted free agent Marc Gasol, giving them the chance to match any offer he might get this offseason. General manager Chris Wallace announced the move Friday. The 7-foot-1 Gasol averaged 15 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in helping the Grizzlies upset top-seeded San Antonio to open the playoffs before pushing Oklahoma City to seven games in the semifinals. He finished second in rebounds per game and third with 2.15 blocks per game in the playoffs. He averaged 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds while starting 81 games in the regular season. | Memphis Grizzlies Draft Josh Selby | |
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies selected Kansas guard Josh Selby with the 49th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced Thursday night. Selby, a 6-2, 183-pound guard, posted 7.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 26 games as a freshman with the Jayhawks, earning Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors twice. The 20-year-old scored a season-high 21 points in his first appearance of the season on Dec. 18, 2010 vs. USC, converting the go-ahead three-pointer with 26 seconds remaining in Kansas’ 70-68 win. The No. 1-ranked high school recruit by Rivals.com, Selby averaged 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals during the 2009-10 season for Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore. A McDonald’s All-American as a high school senior, Selby scored 13 points in the All-American Game and won the 2010 Powerade Jam Fest slam dunk contest as part of the event’s festivities. Selby joins fellow Kansas standouts Darrell Arthur and Xavier Henry on Memphis’ roster, marking the third time in the past four drafts the Grizzlies have come away with a former Jayhawk and the second consecutive season the team has selected a Kansas freshman (Henry). “I don’t think this current team will play for the title in the future,” Parker told French reporters, according to the San Antonio Express-News. “We are aging. We must be realistic. It was sort of our last chance this season.” Now the 29-year-old who signed an extension last October that has him in a Spurs uniform till 2015 has changed his tune a little bit: “I’m in a great situation,” he said, the paper reports. “I love the Spurs.
